Your most important Questions answered
What is Botox?
Botox (short for Botulinum Toxin) is a highly effective treatment used worldwide for smoothing wrinkles and fine lines around the forehead, glabella and eyes as well as for lifting the brow. Doctors have been using Botox for years to successfully treat wrinkles and lines.
How does Botox Work?
Botulinum toxin which is best known under the trademarked name “Botox”, blocks signals travelling from the nerves to the muscles. The injectedarea of muscle are not able to contract which in turn makes your wrinkles relax and soften, resulting in softer, smoother skin.
How Long do Botox treatments last?
If you want to maintain your wrinkle-free skin, we recommend that you receive a treatment every four to six months to ensure those muscles remain inactive. As the muscle action gradually increases, the lines and wrinkles reappear and need to be treated again. Who wants that? The better than good news is that lines and wrinkles often appear less severe over time because the muscles are shrinking.
How long does the treatment take?
It’s a very quick procedure. Getting Botox only takes a few minutes. Botox is injected with a fine needle into specific muscle groups. Most clients experience little to no discomfort. It takes on average 7 to 14 days to take full effect.
Is Botox Safe?
Yes, women and men around the world have been treated with BOTOX injections for many years and there are no-known long-term adverse effects from this treatment. Like most cosmetic treatments, side effects rarely occur.
What are the most common treated areas with Botox?
The most commonly treated areas are frown lines, forehead creases and crow’s feet near the eyes.

The Botox Treatment Procedure
Botox treatments are done with a very thin and fine needle which is used to inject small amounts of botulinum toxin into very specific muscles pre-selected during your consultation to meet your skin care objectives.
By carefully choosing specific muscles, your healthcare provider weakens only the wrinkle-producing muscles, preserving your natural facial expressions.
Botox injections usually take a few minutes. The number of injections you need will depend on your facial features and the extent of your wrinkles.
Crow’s feet, for example, usually demand two to three injections. Furrows above your brow could take five or more. No anesthesia is required. There is no down time or recovery time for botulinum toxin injections.
Local anaesthetic creams can be applied prior to your treatment if you have particularly sensitive skin.
Post Treatment Tip: Don’t rub or massage the treated areas after the botox treatment because it can cause the botulinum toxin to migrate to another area of your face.
