Laser Hair Removal Irvine
Laser Hair Removal works by targeting melanin and pigment found in the hair follicles. Your hairs will become finer and lighter in color until they are reduced or eliminated altogether, all while preserving the health of the surrounding skin.
Laser hair removal safely treats all skin types. The recommended number of treatments and intervals depend on a persons objectives.
We always recommend that you come in for a free consultation with one of our medical experts to discuss your treatment objectives, ask your questions and determine the optimum treatment plan for you.

Your most important Questions answered
How Does Laser Hair Removal Work?
Hair removal lasers emit a light at a specific wavelength that is known to be absorbed by the pigment (color) in the hair follicle, without damaging the surrounding skin. The light is converted to heat energy, which in turns disables the hair follicle so that it will not produce another hair. Say Goodbye to Shaving! Thank goodness for science!
Are There Any Risks With Laser Hair Removal?
Laser hair removal is a lunch time procedure. There is no recovery time. You can return to work or play immediately. These lasers do not remove skin and have been used safely since they have come onto the market.
How Many Laser Hair Removal Treatments Will I need?
This varies, but typically you can expect the average to be six to eight treatments to achieve the desired result. We do have some clients who are happy after just four treatments.
What is the Typical Cost of Laser Hair Removal Treatment?
Again this varies on your objectives and desired results taking into account the size of the area, the complexity and other factors of the area being treated. We will be happy to give you an exact price as soon as we learn about what area you are trying to treat. The investment feels very comfortable for our clients because the outcome is so worth it!
Why does it take several treatments to remove unwanted hair?
Hair grows in repeating cycles, and only in the actively growing phase does the hair contain enough pigment to absorb sufficient energy to disable the hair follicle. When hair is in the dormant phase, it has little or no pigment, and it cannot absorb the laser light. During your first treatment, we disable all of the hair follicles with actively growing hair in the treatment area. A few weeks later, some of your dormant hairs will have moved into the actively growing stage, and you will come in for a treatment to disable those. As this cycle gets repeated, you experience increasing reduction of hair and smoother skin. You have to love that, right?
Is it painful?
This is one of the more popular questions that we get. Clients have compared it to a rubber band lightly snapping against the skin. Compared to waxing, the treatment has very little discomfort. Most client’s find it painless. We do recognize that everyone’s pain tolerance is different. If you find it uncomfortable, we can prescribe a numbing cream for your skin. Clients love the results!

The Laser Hair Removal Treatment Protocol
Before your laser hair removal treatment, your provider will place protective eye shields over your eyes to prevent injury to your corneas or retinas.
The hair that will be undergoing treatment will be trimmed to a few millimeters above the skin surface.
To protect the outer layers of your skin, a cold gel or a special cooling device will be used. This will also make the treatment more effective by facilitating laser light penetration through the skin.
The most popular lasers for hair removal use a low-energy laser beam which will be adjusted to your skin color and to the color, thickness, and location of the hair that is to be removed.
Typically, your provider will begin with a test treatment by directing a test pulse light to the treatment area. A low-energy laser beam will pass through your skin and be absorbed by the pigment of a percentage of the active-growth hair follicles. This area will be observed to make sure that the settings are correct and to check for any adverse reactions to treatment.
If the test proves successful, the low-energy laser beam is then systematically directed spot-by-spot to the areas to be treated, instantly and permanently disabling the active-growth hair follicles with each treatment. Hair follicles in the dormant phase are not affected by the treatment.
When the laser hair removal treatment procedure is completed, you may be given ice packs, cold water or anti-inflammatory creams or lotions to soothe the treated areas and diminish any discomfort. Multiple sessions are usually required for optimal results.
Usually three to eight treatments are needed initially, but additional treatments at later dates should be expected, especially if you have endogenous hormone secreting states or exogenous hormone use.
